Wealth Building Course

The Own It Wealth Building course focuses on personal finance and building wealth with a racial justice framework. This online, self-paced course consists of pre-recorded sessions that cover goal setting, budgeting, income vs. wealth, understanding credit, retirement, taxes, and more. With education comes knowledge, power, and greater confidence in navigating a system that wasn’t designed for Black and brown families. Your participation helps change the narrative and works to break barriers Black and brown homebuyers have faced for decades.

Courses for One City Schools (Families, Alumni, Staff)

If you are affiliated with One City Schools, you must complete the 2-part education program to fulfill the requirements for the Down Payment Grant application. Do not enroll in the public course.

Course for the Public

Education for Real Estate Professionals

We provide education materials for real estate professionals to learn about the impacts of racial discrimination in housing and how to become effective allies to Black and Brown homebuyers.

We have also established the Ambassador Program for professionals ready to make a commitment to social justice in the Greater Madison housing market.

Education for the Community

In the future, we plan to host workshops for the public discussing the lasting impacts of racial discrimination in housing and the importance of establishing systematic funding mechanisms.

At this time, we encourage community members to review our list of education materials for an in-depth look at the persistent barriers to homeownership.

We’re Growing

We need a broad base of support to grow the program, so please tell your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues about OWN IT: Building Black Wealth. See the Community Support page for ideas.
